Rules

I will be following the discipline policy that is in the handbook. Also, I have two rules that I want the students to follow. The first is respect. I believe the students should respect their teachers, peers, and the property around them. Secondly, I believe students should act like Christians, we are in a Catholic environment.

What we are studying

Literature

Both 7th and 8th Grades will be using the Prentice Hall Literature Book. They will be graded on assignments, quizzes, and tests from this book. In addition to this book, students will be responsible for several book reports through-out the year. I believe reading is knowledge. One of my goals for these students is to have them develop a love for reading. We are also going to try to a novel study.

Currently 7th grade have been reading short stories and poems that pertain to identity. 8th grade is also reading short stories.

Remember to always read!!!!

English

Both 7th and 8th Grades will be using the Voyages in English Books which will cover both grammar and writing. Students will learn to write several different kinds of papers such as research papers, personal narratives, how-to articles, expository article plus creative writing. In addition to the writing, we will also focus on grammar, learning the different parts of speech. They will be graded on homework, quizzes, and written papers. All papers must be typed. 7th and 8th Grades wukk aksi gave a Vocabulary Book. I believe this is important because it increases comprehension and enhances communication skills.

Currently both grades are working on nouns. This should be review for them. The next part of speech we tackle are adjectives. Both grades should also be finishing up Unit 1 in the Vocabulary Book. Our first piece of writing for both classes will be a personal narrative. Students should start thinking about what their topic will be.
